Stainless Fishing Knives
We like this course because it covers two things that are dear to us: fishing knives and working with stainless steel.
This two-day course for adults teaches participants the fundamentals of working with stainless steel as well as how to make knives using stock removal techniques.
The stock removal process makes knives by grinding them out of steel blanks. No forging or hammering is used in the method. It is a great way to get into knifemaking as it needs much less equipment.
There's a lot of misconceptions about working with stainless steel, and for many people this makes it seem difficult. This course will take the mystery out of it and show you how to produce consistent results at home with only basic equipment.
At the end of the course you'll go home with two stainless steel fishing knives that you have created from Sandvik 12C27 Stainless Steel.
On this course you will learn how to:
- Design high-quality fishing knives
- Shape and grind stainless steel
- Heat treat 12C27 stainless steel
- Create and fit handle scales to a full-tang blade
- ... and more
