Introduction to Coppersmithing (Adult)

Introduction to Coppersmithing (Adult)

Copper was the first metal used by artisans in antiquity because of its softness, beauty and ease of use. It is still used today for a wide range of purposes.

In this intensive one-day course for adults, you will learn how to hand-forge copper jewellery, developing the skills to create your own distinctive style.

The course goes from 8am – 5pm and you will go home with three hand-forged, ready-to-wear pieces.

You will learn how to:

  • Design cuffs, earrings and rings in the sizes that suit your style
  • Cut, shape and file raw material
  • Texture metal
  • Add patinas and varnishes to protect your work
  • Add beads to hand-forged pieces for a professional finish
  • Make your own earring hooks
  • Anneal and braze copper

This course requires no previous experience. Our job is to guide, instruct, and help you turn accidents into successes.

You will have an enjoyable day and you’ll go home with three beautiful pieces of jewellery to wear or give as gifts.

Cost includes: Tuition, insurance, materials, use of tools, workshop consumables, safety gear, morning and afternoon tea, photos on USB.

Need to bring: Lunch, appropriate clothing and covered footwear
