Learn the basics of traditional leatherwork through the process of making a leather bag. Choose from our catalogue of basic bags such as leather totes, handbags, tools bags, satchels, map cases, wallets and more. You’ll go home with a handcrafted leather bag along with the skills to make other leather products.
Leatherworking Foundations
The key to getting into leatherwork isn't just learning basic skills. It’s about meta-skills. To be successful, you need to learn how to learn leatherwork.Our five-day Leatherwork Foundations course will teach you the fundamental leatherwork skills required to successfully complete intermediate level projects. Importantly, you’ll also learn how to avoid wasting money on tools and material and how to choose projects that will end in success and growth. This course is suitable for anyone aged 16 years and up, no prior leatherwork experience necessary.
Custom Leather Aprons

Intro to Leatherwork - Book Covers
Learn the basics of traditional leatherwork through the process of covering a book. You’ll go home with a handcrafted book cover and journal along with the skills to make your own book covers to protect your own cherished books, diaries and notebooks.
Making your first leather book cover introduces you to essential techniques such as cutting, burnishing, stitching, stamping and more. Most importantly, you’ll learn how leather behaves as it is fitted around solid bodies. This means you’ll be able to make more of your own book covers, as well as covers and cases for objects with similar shapes such as a phone or tablet.
You’ll also pickup other fundamental leatherwork skills through personalising your leather book cover in clever and fun ways. This will provide you with the fundamental skills you need to branch out on your own into even more embellishment and design techniques.
This one-day course is taught in our fully-equipped leatherwork studio by one of our experienced leather workers. Asides from the skills and practice you’ll gain from the course, you also have the opportunity to ask an expert any questions you might have about starting out in leatherwork: sourcing supplies and tools, common beginner pitfalls, etc.
This course requires no previous experience. Our job is to guide, instruct, and help you turn accidents into successes.
Suitable for adults and children age 12+
Includes: Tuition, insurance, materials, workshop use, safety gear, morning and afternoon tea.
Need to bring: Lunch (fridge and microwave available), appropriate clothing and covered footwear.

Leather Sheathmaking
Learn how to make leather sheaths at home using inexpensive tools. During this one-day course you'll make two leather sheaths for two of your own knives that you bring with you.
The skills you'll learn will not only allow you to make sheaths - they'll also get you started with a broad range of entry-level leatherworking projects. We'll also fill you in on the best places to source leather, fittings, patterns, and tools. Importantly, you'll also have the opportunity to talk to an experienced teacher about setting up to make sheaths at home.
Kydex Introduction
This course is ideal for anyone who wants to make Kydex sheaths and holsters at home, whether for their own equipment or to sell to others. Bring two of your favorite knives and walk away with two sheaths, another small project of your own choosing, and the knowledge of how make a wide variety of other Kydex projects as well as how to make your own Kydex manufacturing equipment.
