First Responders' Sculpture
This course is only for scholarship recipients from The Cuppacumbalong Foundation
Sculpting with metal is easy to learn and rewarding to master. One you've got the basics down you're on your way - all you need is some inexpensive equipment and an artistic imagination. Suitable for people who have never-ever used tools in their life through to people who are comfortable working with metal
This two-day course teaches participants the fundamental skills required to create sculptures at home. Our expert instructors will teach you these skills by guiding you through the process of creating a visually striking sphere and an armature based sculpture.
The course goes from 7pm-9pm on the first evening and from 8am - 5pm the next two days. You will go home with a 70cm diameter steel sculpture and an armature based sculpture and the knowledge and skills you need to continue sculpting on your own.
You will learn how to:
- Use basic molds to form metal
- How to use jigs to hold patterns
- Shaping metal patterns
- How to use a MIG welder
- Selection and placement of patterns
- How to form basic 3D surfaces
- Use an armature to set movement and shape
- Use positive and negative space to define form
This course requires no previous experience. Our job is to guide, instruct, and help you turn accidents into successes.
Cost includes: Tuition, insurance, materials, use of tools, workshop consumables, safety gear, morning and afternoon tea.
Need to bring: Lunch, appropriate long-sleeved clothing and covered footwear.
