Custom Leather Aprons
Imagine your own custom leather apron made from heavy duty, premium leather. It fits you perfectly and has the right pockets, for the right tools, in the right places. That’s what this course is all about.
Learn how to make leather aprons by making your very own custom apron on this one day course.
These leather workshop aprons are tough. They are ideal for blacksmiths, bladesmiths, woodworkers, or anyone who spends time in a workshop, studio or garage.
Features:
- your choice of 1.6mm or 2.4mm thick leather
- cut to perfectly suit your body shape
- custom fitted adjustable harness system
- hand tooled nameplate
- your choice of pockets and tool retention devices
You’ll also pickup some basic leather working skills along the way. These include: marking-out, cutting, edge bevelling, punching, stitching, rivetting, edge finishing, and surface treatments.
This is a one day course in our purpose-built leather studio. The day starts with a discussion about leather and hide selection. You’ll then learn how to size an apron and choose your hide.
Once you’ve cut your hide to size, it’s time to design the harness system. We’ll show you a simple yet clever way to create a custom harness system that is adjustable without excess straps and hardware creating a nuisance.
After lunch, it’s on to pockets and tool retention devices. We’ll explore and discuss various options before helping you select the right combination depending on your individual needs.
The day finishes with final customisation and personalisation of your apron. You’ll have the opportunity to create a hand-tooled nameplate as well as add other decorative touches to your apron.
You can be sure that the leather apron you make will last a lifetime. This isn’t only because it’s made from quality materials - it’s because you’ll also be going home with the knowledge and skills needed to maintain and repair your apron, as well as add further customisations as your needs evolve.
